This week the Teamster delivery drivers at Clare Rose went on strike. Clare Rose delivers Budweiser products to bars and restaurants across Long Island. They went on strike after the company gave them a final offer that included a 30% pay cut and the elimination of their pensions. Just a day after they went on strike, the company has said that they plan to replace the union workers with non-union, out of state scabs. They need our support.
That is why I'm asking every member to join a picket line when you can, even an hour makes a big difference. These 2 picket lines are a 24 hour operation. Feel free to bring your family and friends, children are welcome too. As the BTA, we will be joining them together as a union on Wednesday, May 3rd from 2:30PM to 5:00 PM at the Melville location, 255 Pinelawn Road, Melville NY 11747. The other picket line is located at 100 Rose Executive Boulevard, East Yaphank, NY 11967. Feel free to go to any of these lines whenever you can.
We want to show Clare Rose that the entire labor community and especially teachers' unions have these workers backs. So, while you are at the picket line, take a photo walking the strike line, and share on your social networks using the hashtag #BudStrikers. See you all on Wednesday.
The Teamsters are asking us and all of our members to boycott Clare Rose products listed below until the end of the strike. Clare Rose has said that they will replace their Teamster drivers with out of state scabs who will be delivering these products during the strike. Please download this picture and share it on Facebook and Twitter to encourage your family and friends to support the boycott as well. Also, if you have a relationship with a bar owner, please share with them this communication and ask them to use another distributor until the strike is over. This is strongest tactic the union has to win this fight.
